About Us
The purpose of the Cambridge Feminist Society is to encourage feminist research, to support the academic development and achievements of women, and to facilitate the prioritisation of women's issues, perspectives, and knowledges in all fields.
Our goals are: 1. to explore the work of feminist thinkers, artists and activists, and to increase awareness of feminist scholarship and methods; 2. to provide a platform for all members doing feminist research to present their research and get feminist feedback; 3. to provide a central hub where members of the University can link up with other feminists for academic support and collaboration. Please sign up to our mailing list. If you are interested in broader feminist activism at the University of Cambridge, please see the Women's Campaign for more resources. |
What we do
CamFemSoc hosts events on MONDAYs during term time at the Graduate Union.
For the 2014-15 academic year, we will focus on running the Women's Reading Group. This is open to women at university and in the broader community. It will focus on facilitating exploration of both classic and recent feminist literature (pamphlets, articles, essays, poems, novels, & books). We aim to make feminist literature more accessible--no academic background or text comprehension is required. All texts will be explained at the beginning of the session before moving on to general discussion. If you have any difficulty reading some of all of the texts, please feel free to show up anyway! We also run Feminist Research Symposia, so if you are working on any feminist writing or research, watch out for our next Call for Papers. |
