***DEADLINE: 01 MARCH 2014***
The CamFemSoc Internal Symposia provide a platform for feminist students and researchers to present their work and get feminist feedback in a supportive and collaborative environment. Presentations will be between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the needs of the presenter.
We welcome contributions from self-defining women undergraduates, graduates and fellows from any discipline. The work presented should be original research that engages with feminist histories, materials, topics, themes, debates and/or utilises feminist research methods and conceptual frameworks. Please note that the presentation does not have to be ABOUT feminism or women, but has to demonstrate the USE of feminism (approaches, methods, frameworks) as a core component of the research.
We ask that presenters:
-be intelligible to an interdisciplinary audience (i.e. avoid jargon, do not assume others have discipline-specific knowledge)
-use women-authored and women-created sources
-demonstrate a critical approach to the gender power dynamics dominating much of academic discourse and teaching
-be open to the suggestions and critiques of other feminists
Please submit a title, an abstract of a few lines, a proposed presentation length (between 10 to 30 mins) and a note of college and departmental affiliation to [email protected]. Submissions should be in PDF or Word (.doc/.docx) format.
Feel free to contact the CamFemSoc before the deadline for further guidance or to send us an abstract draft for feedback.
